    CHROMOGEN EVACUATED TUBES

    evacuatedtube

Evacuated Tube solar hot water systems also consist of a split configuration of ground-mounted tank and roof-mounted collectors. Backup electric or gas water heaters provide hybrid reliability. They are designed to provide installation flexibility without compromising the aesthetics of your home.

Evacuated tube technology utilises a vacuum which allows the collector to effectively retain the thermal energy it has collected, even through the coldest conditions. Evacuated tube collectors also allow high water temperatures to be achieved. The unique design of evacuated tubes means that they are not subject to freezing and so they are suitable for frost-prone areas.

They are also ideal for hard water applications due to the large bore diameter of the single header pipe which reduces the effects of scaling and restriction to water flow.

    The savings with solar

Depending on the model, a typical solar hot water system can save between 3,000 to 3,500 kWh of energy per year. The dollar savings will depend on how much you are currently paying for energy and how much that will rise in the future. The savings can amount to hundreds, even thousands of dollars over the years and your solar hot water system will pay for itself in just a few short years. Compare that to other appliances in your home; how many pay for themselves at all?

When choosing a solar hot water system, consider the following:

    • Is your area subject to frost or is your water ‘hard’ (high in Calcium). If Yes, consider closed loop systems or systems with evacuated tube collectors
    • Do you have gas energy available? If yes select gas backup. If not, select electric backup
    • Which type of installation is most suitable for your home? Roof-mounted or Ground-mounted storage tank?
    • Does your available roof space get sufficient sunlight? This will determine the number of collectors you may require
